About the project
The Children’s Day project combined a family programme by the lighthouse, an environmental quest for school pupils, a cleanup near the lighthouse and the work of young volunteers.
Details
Concept
The project was dedicated to Children’s Day and took place around one of Narva-Jõesuu’s recognisable places, the lighthouse. The idea was to combine a children’s celebration, family leisure and an environmental theme in one clear town programme.
The lighthouse and its surroundings were not just a backdrop, but part of the project’s meaning: participants could see a familiar place as a space for care, play, learning and shared activity.
Programme
The project included a family celebration programme, an environmental quest for school pupils, a cleanup near the lighthouse and the involvement of young volunteers. The quest helped children explore environmental themes through tasks, movement and teamwork.
A separate part was the cleanup of the area. It connected the celebration with real action: children and young people did not only talk about a clean environment, but helped make the town space tidier.
Outcomes
Around 400 people took part in the project, including more than 50 school pupils in the environmental quest and a team of young volunteers. The format showed that a children’s celebration can be fun, family-friendly and meaningful at the same time.
For Narva-Jõesuu, the project helped bring life to an important town location and showed that caring for the town can begin with simple actions involving children, young people and parents.
