Green Community Events in Ida-Virumaa Schools
About the project
Two free family events in Narva-Jõesuu and Sinimäe schools combined workshops, games, family relay activities, short talks, a green digital area and the contribution of young volunteers.
Details
Project format
The project consisted of two family events in school spaces in Ida-Virumaa: Narva-Jõesuu and Sinimäe. Both events were open and free so that children, young people, parents and residents could join without barriers and spend time together.
Schools were chosen as familiar and accessible places where educational, family and community programmes can meet. The format showed that a school space can be a living centre of local activity, not only a place for lessons.
Activities and atmosphere
The programme included creative workshops, family relay games, LEGO activities, T-shirt painting, inflatables, sweet treats, prizes and thematic activities. In the green digital area, participants could try modern formats connected to environment and technology.
It was especially important that the Sinimäe event gathered unexpectedly many visitors. This showed that smaller communities have a strong need for lively family events and that people join when the programme feels warm and accessible.
Role of young people
Young volunteers took part in the project, helping with preparation, activity areas, visitors and general organisation. For them, it was a chance to try the role of assistant and organiser in a safe but real environment.
As a result, the two events gathered more than 300 participants and strengthened connections between schools, families, young people and local partners.
