Youth-led Winter Celebration in Narva-Jõesuu
About the project
A youth team planned and delivered a winter celebration for the town, including a children’s programme, youth activities, stage performances, contests, music, a disco and an evening show.
Details
Project idea
The project was designed as a winter town celebration that young people would not only support, but create themselves. The key idea was to give a youth team a real organiser role while offering Narva-Jõesuu residents a warm seasonal event.
The winter format brought together children, teenagers, parents and town visitors. The celebration worked as an open community space with music, lights, activities, meetings and an atmosphere that brings life to the town during the cold season.
Celebration programme
The team prepared several programme blocks: children’s activities, youth formats, stage performances, contests, a music programme, a disco and an evening show. This made the celebration engaging for different age groups rather than one narrow audience.
Young organisers worked on ideas, task distribution, communication, activity zones, the programme and the overall atmosphere. For them, it became full-cycle practice in producing a town event.
Meaning for the town
The celebration showed that young people can be not only participants, but drivers of town life. Through the project, participants gained experience, confidence and an understanding of how their initiatives can benefit residents.
With an expected audience of around 500 guests, the project became a visible town event and gave the youth team a foundation for future winter and seasonal initiatives.
