Green Future: Youth Study Trip to Denmark and Sweden
About the project
The study trip to Karlskrona and Copenhagen gave young people first-hand experience of youth centres, schools, green urban solutions, cycling infrastructure, adaptive reuse and circular economy practices.
Details
Route and purpose
The project focused on international learning through direct observation. Young participants travelled to Karlskrona in Sweden and Copenhagen in Denmark to see how youth spaces, educational institutions and urban environments work in other countries.
The trip was also connected to the partnership between Narva-Jõesuu and Karlskrona. For participants, it was a chance to see the twin town not as a point on a map, but as a living environment with people, institutions, youth work and ideas that can be brought home.
What participants explored
The programme included visits to youth centres, schools and university environments, cultural and historical sites, and observation of how cities of different sizes approach sustainable development and comfortable urban space.
Special attention was paid to cycling infrastructure, accessibility of public spaces, adaptive reuse of buildings, environmentally friendly habits, community initiatives and how small towns can become active and attractive for young people.
Outcomes and continuation
After the trip, participants discussed which practices could be useful for Narva-Jõesuu and the wider region. The project was not a tourist trip, but an educational experience that broadened outlook and strengthened the team’s independence.
A public presentation was an important part of the project, allowing participants to share impressions, ideas and observations. In this way, the experience of a small group became a resource for the local community and future youth initiatives.
